How to Set Up Rooms and Organize Your Plant Collection

A step-by-step guide to organizing your plants by room in FlowerCare for better tracking and care management.

Organize Like Your Actual Home

One of FlowerCare's most powerful features is room-based organization. Instead of a flat list of plants, you can mirror your actual living space—making it easy to remember where each plant lives and what conditions it experiences.

Step 1: Create Your Rooms

Start by adding the rooms where you keep plants. Common examples include:

  • Living Room
  • Bedroom
  • Kitchen
  • Bathroom
  • Office
  • Balcony or Patio

Each room can track its own light levels and temperature conditions, which helps FlowerCare give more accurate care recommendations.

Step 2: Set Room Conditions

For each room, specify:

  • Light Level: Low (north-facing), Medium (east/west-facing), or Bright (south-facing with direct sun)
  • Temperature Range: Cool, Average, or Warm
  • Humidity: Dry, Normal, or Humid (bathrooms and kitchens tend to be more humid)

Don't worry about being exact—FlowerCare will help you adjust over time.

Step 3: Add Plants to Rooms

Once your rooms are set up, add plants by:

  • Taking a photo for instant identification
  • Searching by name if you already know the species
  • Assigning it to the correct room

The app will automatically create a care schedule based on the plant species and room conditions.

Pro Tips for Organization

  • Use descriptive names like “Monstera by the window” instead of just “Monstera”
  • Take a photo of each plant's location so you can remember where it sits
  • Group plants with similar needs in the same room when possible
  • Update room conditions seasonally—a bright room in summer might be medium in winter
